Now, the mother is asking Torontonians for help getting it back.

“We were just at the market to see the elf show around 5 p.m. and he [the bear] was in my arms,” Martin said in a Skype interview Thursday. “My husband went to go get something, we watched the show and then shortly after, we realized we didn’t have him.

“It was about 30 to 35 minutes after we realized that we didn’t have him.”

The family had to head home to Newfoundland Wednesday morning, but were not able to find the bear before their departure.

“It was hard not to try and sound like a crazy person,” she said. “I was just asking people who worked there and people around. I was trying not to let [Lennon] know much.”

Martin said she wrote the post because she had seen other people in her situation do the same and get responses that have helped. It made her hopeful that somebody might see her post and know something.

She is offering a $100 reward for anyone who finds the bear.

The Toronto Christmas Market said it has not had anything turned into the lost and found yet, but will watch for the bear to turn up.

Martin’s young daughter, Lennon, is upset and doesn’t know why her beloved bear is missing. The bear has travelled with them on other vacations to Spain and England, but Martin said he usually stays in the room.

The bear is a light beige colour, with a pink ribbon tied around its neck and wearing a white “great wolf kids” T-shirt.

Martin said her daughter has a lot of toys and that she’ll be okay, but the bear is special and she hopes that they’ll find him.
