Calgary firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire at a mobile home park in Penbrooke Meadows on Tuesday morning.

The fire, located in the 6000 block of 17 Avenue S.E., started at around 4:45 a.m.

One person was at home at the time but was able to get out safely.

The fire caused significant damage to the mobile home where it originated but didn’t damage any other structures.

“Because of building construction they do tend to burn easier,” East District Fire Chief Tom Kaake said. “In this case, there’s a lot of distance between neighbouring buildings.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Anyone with information, photos or video of this fire, especially before the arrival of fire crews on the scene, is asked to email them to piofire@calgary.ca.
