Martensville man charged with assault, break and enter

A Martensville man is facing several charges after a break and enter in the city just north of Saskatoon.

Police were called to a home early Saturday morning for a report of a break-in.

The homeowner confronted the man, resulting in an altercation, before the suspect fled on foot.

The homeowner was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said it was an isolated incident and that there is no concern to community safety.

Martensville RCMP have charged Darian Cote, 20, with break and enter, aggravated assault, disguise with intent, mischief, and failing to comply with an undertaking.

Cote appeared Tuesday in Saskatoon provincial court and will make his next appearance on Thursday.
