Ticats trade C.J. Gable to Eskimos

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have traded running back C.J. Gable to the Edmonton Eskimos.

In return, the Ticats receive two players from Edmonton’s negotiation list.

Gable had one of his best games in a Ticats’ uniform in Hamilton’s 43-35 overtime loss to the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday night when he ran 18 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns.

Gable, 29, played 51 games for the Cats over five seasons (2013-17) where he rushed 407 times for 2,372 yards and 17 touchdowns.  Gable also caught 147 passes for 1,497 yards and eight TDs.

The Sylmar, Calif., native was a CFL East Division All-Star in 2013 and 2016.  Gable was also the runner-up for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie Award in 2013.

The move puts rookie running back Alex Green back in as Hamilton’s starter.  Green rushed 13 times for 140 yards in his first CFL game two weeks ago in B.C.
