Toronto police and paramedics said they were called to Warden Avenue and Continental Place, north of Ellesmere Road, before 9:30 p.m.

Police said a family of four had just left a restaurant at a plaza nearby when they decided to cross four lanes of traffic at an unmarked intersection.

A father and a two-year-old managed to make it across safely but the 33-year-old mother and five-year-old daughter were struck by a northbound vehicle.

Both victims ended up in the southbound lane where the mother was struck a second time by another vehicle.

Police sad the Honda suffered damage to the fender on the front passenger side wheel area and a piece was dislodged at the scene of the crash.
