City woman, 56, killed while crossing Highway 7 east of Peterborough

A woman was killed as she attempted to cross Highway 7 just east Peterborough on Sunday night.

Peterborough County OPP say Susan Margaret Little, 56, of Peterborough was crossing near Lancaster Road when she was struck by a tractor trailer unit around 8 p.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene just a few kilometres outside Peterborough’s municipal boundary.

Highway 7 between Burnham Line and Drummond Line, was closed for several hours while OPP investigated the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and OPP say the identity of the victim will not be released until next of kin are notified.

Police said Monday afternoon that a post-mortem exam would be completed in Toronto.
