Federated Co-op has opened its new 96,000 square foot fertilizer terminal in Hanley, Sask.
The new facility has the capacity to store 45,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer.

It’s one of two new facilities commissioned by the company – the other is in Brandon, Man. – at a combined cost of $75 million.
Each terminal can fill a super B trailer of blended fertilizer in 10 minutes and dispense up to 400 metric tonnes of straight fertilizer in an hour.
Scott Banda, the CEO of Federated Co-operatives Limited, said the investment is part of the company’s commitment to Prairie farmers.
“Co-op and Western Canadian farmers have enjoyed a long and successful partnership, which will continue to grow into the future with this significant investment,” Banda said in a release.
“With centralized fertilizer distribution, the Co-operative Retailing System can provide producers with everything they need — including fuel, animal feed, crop inputs, grain handling equipment and more — in a single stop, which makes us truly unique in Western Canada.”
Construction on both terminals started in 2016 and each started receiving and shipping product in April.
