It is unknown how a semi truck caught fire on the Coquihalla Highway Tuesday morning but footage from Drive BC cameras show the vehicle going up in smoke and flames around 8:30 a.m.
The semi caught fire near the Portia Exit of the highway, near Shylock Road, just north of Hope.
The highway was closed southbound at the Exit 202 Portia Interchange for hours but has since reopened.
The flaming rig was carrying lumber. There was concern the flames could spread into the nearby forest but it appears to have been kept under control.
