Police issued a missing persons appeal Monday evening for Maria Martha Watt, who hadn’t spoken to her family since before an evacuation order was issued for the community.

Police checked her home and evacuation centres in Prince George and Kamloops, but said they did not believe she registered there.

Norm Watt, Maria’s stepson, said he last spoke to her a few days before the 100 Mile area was ordered to evacuate. That was July 9.

“The evacuation order at 100 Mile House went out at I think around nine o’clock at night,” Watt said. “So, she would have gone sometime during the night, we assume. I called her the next morning and there was no response and there was no response to an email.”

Police have not said where or how Watt was found, or why she didn’t contact her family to say where she was.
