Police investigating after report of shots fired in Dartmouth Wednesday morning

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a weapons complaint Wednesday morning in Dartmouth.

Officers were called to the area of Tacoma Drive and Valleyfield Road shortly after 3:30 a.m. for a weapons call.

Police say a caller indicated they had heard multiple gun shots and saw people running in the area. Once on scene, officers were unable to locate any people, vehicles or evidence of a shooting following a canvass of the area and K-9 search.

A few hours later, a 16-year-old boy from Dartmouth went to the hospital with what’s being described as a non life-threatening gunshot wound to his hand. It’s believed the boy was in the area of Tacoma Drive around the time of the initial weapons complaint.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
