You can now take a tour of the Regina Bypass project, without actually setting foot on-site.
Work on the $1.88 billion project is being documented by drone, allowing the public and stakeholders to get a bird’s eye view of the construction progress.
“Today we’re doing an update for the Regina Bypass video,” said Mark Beattie, with Adjile Online Video. “They like to do these updates every few months to show the progress that’s being made. (The project is) actually quite a bit larger than most people understand.”
Over the next two days, crews will be filming 27 different locations of the project, which is nearing the halfway mark.
Workers are on the final stretch of phase one in Area 3, the east end of the project, running from Balgonie to Arcola. Paving of Highway One East is almost complete. The next major change will involve re-routing traffic after the July long weekend.
“Everything is on-schedule for that right now” said Stephen Connolly, the project manager for Area 3 of the Regina Bypass.
“Once we have that flipped we will then move traffic onto a new structure, the Victoria Avenue flyover, from (there) we’ll complete the tie-in work for the bypass, and have that bypass open for the end of the season.”
Phase one of the Regina Bypass project is expected to be complete this October, with the final project slated for completion by October 2019.
