Elderly woman in life-threatening condition after car crashes into east-end Toronto store

A woman, who is believed to be in her 80s, is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after her Honda sedan crashed into the wall of a store in Scarborough Tuesday.

Toronto police said they were called just after 11:30 a.m. to a Staples outlet store at Parkway Mall, near Victoria Park Avenue and Ellesmere Road, where officers found the damaged car.

Police said while the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

“It’s unclear at this point what caused the crash,” said Const. Allyson Douglas Cook.

“We’re not sure if the seriousness of her condition is the result of a medical episode or injuries from the collision.”

Investigators said there was no significant structural damage to the building.
