A 23-year-old worker at a construction site in Oakville has died after a wall partially collapsed.
Emergency crews were called to a townhouse development under construction on Khalsa Gate, near Bronte Road and Dundas Street West, at around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Halton Regional Police said the worker was pinned under a partially-collapsed cement block wall.
The man, who hasn’t been identified, died at the scene.
Ballantry Homes sent out a statement Wednesday afternoon expressing “heartfelt condolences” to the worker’s family.
“The health and safety of everyone working on our sites is a top priority for our company. We are cooperating fully with the regulatory agencies investigating this accident,” company president David Hill said in the statement.
Police and the Ontario Ministry of Labour are investigating the circumstances of the victim’s death.
