Fanshawe College taps Hedley, Barenaked Ladies for 50th anniversary celebration

Fanshawe College will be marking a milestone birthday in September with help from some popular and diverse Canadian artists.

On Thursday, the college announced that it will be hosting Fanshawe at 50: Live in Concert at Budweiser Gardens on Sept. 9, 2017. The marquee celebration of the college’s first 50 years will see performances from Hedley, Barenaked Ladies, and special guest, Brave Shores.

“This concert will represent more than just the biggest event in College history,” Fanshawe president Peter Devlin said.

“It will be an exciting celebration befitting an institution that prides itself on being innovative.”

The concert is an invite-only event with Fanshawe students, staff, alumni, and retirees able to purchase up to four tickets each ranging in price from $37.50 for Level 2 to $50 for Level 1 through Budweiser Gardens’ online box office beginning March 10.

Hedley is an MMVA and JUNO award-winning pop-rock group from British Columbia, Barenaked Ladies is an iconic JUNO award-winning and Grammy-nominated Canadian group out of Scarborough, while Brave Shores is a Toronto-based electro pop band formed in 2013 that enjoyed early success with the song Never Come Down.
