Comeback kids do it again as Winnipeg Jets defeat Detroit Red Wings

The Winnipeg Jets success in the final period continued as they scored four goals to come back to knock off the Detroit Red Wings on Friday.

Brandon Tanev’s first career NHL goal tied the game at three in the third period, and just six minutes later Tanev scored again to help the Jets to a 5-3 victory.

Mark Scheifele, Patrik Laine, and Nikolaj Ehlers also had goals in the Jets win. Ehlers also chipped in with three assists for a four point night. Scheifele had two assists to go along with his sixth goal of the season. Laine’s goal was his seventh of the campaign to tie him for the NHL lead. Connor Hellebuyck stopped 30 of the 33 shots he faced.

The Red Wings received goals from Henrik Zetterberg, Justin Abdelkader and Luke Glendening.

Nic Petan made his season debut with the Jets after getting called up from the Manitoba Moose earlier in the day. Petan’s services were required with Joel Armia and Mathieu Perreault also now on the Jets lengthy injury list.

The Jets will conclude their three game road trip on Sunday against the New York Rangers.
