Canadian folk singer Joni Mitchell made a rare public appearance Saturday at a concert in Los Angeles, 17 months following an aneurysm that sent her to the hospital.
The 72-year-old posted photos to her official website and Facebook page at a Chick Corea concert at the Catalina Bar and Grill. She is seen sitting around a table with the jazz musician, his wife and musician Gayle Moran Corea and pianist Herbie Hancock.
“We are thrilled to see Joni out and about again!” Mitchell’s website reads.

In March 2015, the Big Yellow Taxi singer was found unconscious in her home. She was sent to the hospital where doctors discovered she had suffered an aneurysm.
News of Mitchell’s release from hospital came in July, and in October she was walking, talking and painting again.
According to the Mayo Clinic, a brain aneurysm is a bulge or ballooning of a blood vessel in the brain. It can leak or rupture, leading to a brain bleed also known as a hemorrhagic stroke. Aneurysms are caused by the thinning of artery walls.

Fans have shown their support for the performer and songwriter since the second photo was posted onto Mitchell’s Facebook page Sunday.
“I am very happy to see a picture of Joni out and about,” wrote Shivaun Hogan on Facebook. “She has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard and best wishes to the one, the only Joni Mitchell.”
Julie Fisch added: “‘Joni Mitchell is like a language – a language of the heart… I can’t imagine the world without her. The experiences she puts into words are music… Such an incredible artist! So happy to see this picture.”
“I want Joni to know her music changed my life and I believe she is Canada’s greatest poet,” Aura Pithart commented. “What an amazing woman and so happy she is well!”
The native of Fort Macleod, Alta. has received eight Grammy Awards, including a lifetime achievement award in 2002. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
