Fatal crash on Highway 1 near Langdon

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a single vehicle collision westbound on Highway 1, underneath the Highway 9 and Highway 797 underpass at around 11:15 a.m.

When paramedics arrived, they said a westbound pick-up truck had left the highway and collided with the bridge abutment of the underpass.

The lone occupant driver of the pick-up truck, a 67-year-old man from Strathmore, was pronounced dead at the scene.

RCMP said the truck hit a light standard and then went into the ditch.

EMS said there were no other vehicles or patients involved in the crash.

RCMP continue to investigate the factors leading to this collision.

Highway 1 westbound traffic was reduced to one lane for a short time.
