It’s been a startling and confusing few days in the divorce case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

Shortly after a video showing the actor going on a bizarre and violent tirade emerged (it can be seen here), new photos illustrating Depp’s volatile behaviour have leaked online. The shots, as seen below on Twitter, are reportedly of the actor’s bloody finger. According to court papers obtained by TMZ, he cut off a fingertip during an outburst aimed at the actress.

As reported by People, the incident allegedly happened in March 2015 when the 53-year-old was filming one of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. It happened a month after the duo married.

Whether the cut was intentional is still up for debate. In the papers obtained by TMZ, it’s reported that Depp sliced off his finger on a piece of broken glass that emerged after he smashed several bottles. The cut could have happened accidentally.

The filed documents also allege that post-injury, the Edward Scissorhands star dipped his finger in a jar of paint and went on to write various slurs about his 30-year-old model partner. The scrawls include allegations that she had a relationship with actor Billy Bob Thornton. (One image can be seen in the above tweet.)

Heard and Thornton appeared in the film London Fields together, which was shot in early 2015.

A Thornton source went on to tell People: “Billy Bob definitely, absolutely did not have an affair with Amber.”

According to ET Canada, Heard alleges Depp was drunk and high on ecstasy when the finger-cutting incident happened. They also say Depp didn’t get medical attention for the injury until the day after the fight; the fingertip was subsequently reattached.

The news will surely make the divorce proceedings between the pair even more complicated. Both camps have claimed the other is lying or fabricating evidence on multiple occasions, and several photos showing alleged abuse against Heard have popped up. (People obtained these shots which show Heard’s bruised face; the injuries are reportedly from an iPhone.)

Depp and Heard were married just over a year ago, and on May 23 Heard filed for divorce, seeking spousal support. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason. They met while filming The Rum Diary in 2011.

Depp filed a response asking the court to “terminate the court’s ability to award support” to Heard. He also requested that Heard pay her own lawyer fees — something else she had asked for Depp to cover.

“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life,” read a statement released to the media. “Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”

Depp’s mother, Betty Sue Palmer, died in May at the age of 81.

The pair did not sign a prenuptial agreement, but Depp is trying to ensure that many of his assets stay his. He specifically noted “miscellaneous jewelry,” earnings made after their separation and, as stipulated in the response, “there are additional separate property assets and obligations of the parties, the exact nature and extent of which are not presently known.”
