Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks has had it with what she perceives as country radio’s hypocrisy, at least when it comes to the presidential race currently taking place in the U.S.

The singer, who has been publicly vocal about numerous issues in the past (namely George W. Bush), called out a double-standard in the world of country music: Maines insists that country-music radio is fine with conservative (Republican) commentary, but liberal (Democrat) points-of-view are immediately critiqued and shot down.

Maines is specifically referring to GOP candidate Donald Trump’s remarks about the Second Amendment, and his perceived call to “do something” about his opponent Hillary Clinton.

“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment,” he said. “By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know. But I’ll tell you what, that will be a horrible day.”

“I get banned for not liking Bush and now Trump can practically put a hit out on Hillary and he’s still all over country radio! Hypocrites!” she wrote Thursday on Twitter.

In 2003, just as the U.S. was about to engage in a second Iraq war, Maines famously told an audience in London, England that she was ashamed to be from the same state (Texas) as then-President Bush.

The Dixie Chicks were almost immediately labelled as traitors, and their music was removed from almost all American country radio stations. There were even anti-Dixie Chicks rallies held to impede their success.

Now, in 2016, Maines is indicating that Trump’s comments are going unpunished by country radio. (She did not clarify if she’s referring to advertisements of Trump, or if the country stations are merely staying silent on the issue.)

Trump has since said that his comments were misconstrued by the media.

The Dixie Chicks are currently on their DCX MMXVI Tour.
