Emergency crews rush to crash between truck and car east of Calgary

Several people were injured in a crash between a car and a truck east of Calgary on Wednesday.

It happened on Highway 564 near 84 Street N.E. at around 10:30 a.m.

RCMP said a Toyota Corolla was travelling westbound when it was rear-ended by a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Five passengers were travelling in the Corolla and three were travelling in the pickup truck.

According to RCMP, two teenage passengers in the Corolla had to be rushed to hospital in Calgary; a 17-year-old girl was transported in serious, life-threatening condition and a 13-year-old girl was transported in serious but stable condition. Both were from the Strathmore area. The other 3 occupants of the Corolla were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

EMS said the occupants in the truck, an adult and two toddlers, were treated on scene and released.

Airdrie RCMP are  asking anyone who witnessed the collision to call 403-945-7200.
