Construction is ahead of schedule on Ivor Strong Bridge

Good news for Calgary commuters, work on the Deerfoot over the Ivor Strong Bridge is ahead of schedule.

The lane and speed restrictions are now only in place overnight from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

The bridge, located south of Anderson Road S.E. and north of Douglasdale Boulevard S.E., started to undergo rehabilitation mid mid May.

Crews have been working to replace the expansion joints.

Construction was expected to create significant delays until July 4.

The cost of the rehabilitation is approximately $2.4 million.

It’s estimated over 100,000 vehicles pass over the bridge every day.
