Surrey RCMP now say an early morning fire at a home in Surrey that left one person dead is not suspicious.
There were also reports of an explosion at the time of the fire, but that has not been confirmed by police.
The fire broke out early Wednesday morning at a home in the 9000-block of 148 Street.
When police arrived on scene, they found a severely burned 55-year-old man. He died at the scene.
They also found a middle-aged woman who was suffering from smoke inhalation.
She was rushed to hospital in very serious condition.
Surrey RCMP will now be assisting the BC Coroners Service in their investigation.
Anyone with further information who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
