Spruce Grove Saints advance to AJHL Final

EDMONTON — For the fourth straight year, the Spruce Grove Saints have advanced to the Alberta Junior Hockey League Championship Final.

Jake Mykitiuk led the way with a pair of goals, while Brandon Biro added three assists to lead the Saints past the Lloydminster Bobcats 4-1 in Game 5 of the AJHL North Division Final Friday night. The victory gave the Saints a 4-1 series win and booked their ticket into the final. It will be a re-match of last year’s championship series against the Brooks Bandits.

Spruce Grove will be looking to win their third straight league championship, something that has only been done three times – the last being the Olds Grizzlys from 1992 to 1994.

The Saints have now appeared in seven of the last eight AJHL Finals – having won four times.
