Television network CBS has searched long and hard for an actor to play MacGyver in its reboot of the show, and at long last, they’ve finally cast the role.
Lucas Till, 25, who had roles in films like X-Men: Days of Future Past and Hannah Montana: The Movie, will be the titular MacGyver.

Made famous by Richard Dean Anderson in the original series, which ran from 1985 to 1992, MacGyver was about a secret agent and troubleshooter who could solve every problem with his resourcefulness. He always carried around his trusty Swiss Army knife, and could fashion booby traps out of a paper clip and some string. (OK, maybe not exactly, but you catch the drift.)

CBS’s “reimagining” is reported to be loyal to the original‘s plot and premise, with a 20-something-year-old MacGyver, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Other cast members include George Eads (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Young Justice) and Joshua Boone (Fan Girl), who will play the role of Gunner, MacGyver’s best friend from high school.
