WINNIPEG — Even though they’re unique in several ways, Kyana and Kyia Giles are very much similar.
“I feel like the only time you won’t see us together is in class because we have different classes,” said Kyia. “Other than that, we’re together 24/7.”
The sisters have been inseparable since birth. They’re not only teammates on the Sisler Spartans varsity girls basketball team but also fraternal twins.
“They don’t really believe we’re twins,” said Kyanna. “They think I’m older. Nope! We’re twins and I’m actually the youngest.”
The 17-year-olds have played together their entire lives – from club to high school.
“I feel basketball is just a part of us,” said Kyia. “It’s who we are. We’re twin basketball players.”
A dynamic duo draining away the competition with their twin tricks.
“They know where each other are on the floor,” said Spartans head coach Michael Tan. “If one gets beat, the other is there right away. They feed off each other.”
The Giles have helped Sisler to a near perfect record this season. They’re both part of the provincial team and next year, will take their talents to the University of Regina Cougars.
“It was nice deciding and coming down to the same decision,” said Kyia. “It was nice to be able to pick the same place.”
As the one who shares the same passion.
“(Kyia) is the key to my heart,” said Kyanna. “I love her! She just helps me with everything.”
Sibling support that has led to plenty of success.
