Two dead, three wounded in downtown Toronto shooting

TORONTO — Police say two people are dead and three others wounded after an early morning shooting.

Det. Sgt. Mike Carbone says police were called around 3:15 a.m. near Spadina Avenue and Nassau Street, and that there was some kind of altercation before the gunfire.

Carbone says one male victim died at the scene and a second male died later in hospital.

Three other victims were taken to hospital.

Carbone says police are checking for surveillance tapes, and they would like anyone with cellphone video to provide it to investigators.

There’s no word on suspects. No names have been released.
