UPDATE: Montreal man wanted for Saskatoon jewelry store robbery arrested

SASKATOON – Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a fourth person in a daring Saskatoon jewelry store robbery almost two years ago. Jean Gillis Kesner, 23, is wanted for the robbery at the Birks store on Feb. 1, 2014.

Kesner, who is believed to be in Montreal, is wanted for robbery, wearing a disguise while committing an offence and conspiracy to commit arson.

Four men wearing orange and white construction type jackets entered the store on 3rd Avenue South just before 11 a.m. CT.

They smashed display cases with crowbars and fled with a large quantity of Rolex watches and other jewelry.

Their getaway van was found on fire about 90 minutes later in the area of Bottomley Avenue and Osler Street.

The first person charged in the robbery, Muhidiin Ahmed Farah, was arrested in Montreal in April 2014 after being identified through surveillance video. He was convicted shortly after his arrest for armed robbery and breach of conditions and handed a four-year prison sentence.

A second man, Rida Niam, was arrested in May 2015.

Police are still searching for a third suspect. Pierre Louis Hernandes is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for armed robbery.
