Montreal man wanted for Saskatoon jewelry store robbery arrested

A 23-year-old man wanted in connection to an armed robbery at a Saskatoon jewelry store nearly two years ago has been arrested in Montreal. With the arrest, three of four suspects have been captured.

Jean Gillis Kesner, 23, will be transported back to Saskatoon to answer to charges of robbery, wearing a disguise while committing an offence and conspiracy to commit arson.

On Feb. 1, 2014, four male suspects armed with crowbars entered the Birks jewelry store in the 100-block of 3rd Avenue South in Saskatoon and stole a large amount of Rolex watches and other jewelry.

Through the investigation, Saskatoon police were able to identify Kesner as the fourth person involved and a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest.

Muhidiin Ahmed-Farah and Rida Niam were also arrested with the assistance of Montreal police.

Thirty-one-year-old Pierre Louis Hernandes, of Montreal, is still the subject of a Canada-wide warrant for the 2014 robbery.
