RCMP said originally there was no indication the mother and children were in any danger but that they later became concerned when new information about the case surfaced. They said they were worried about the health of the mother and the medical needs of at least one child. According to police, it was at that point that an Amber Alert was issued.

Police said the mother was made aware of the Amber Alert after she and her children were seen getting out of a taxi at a Tim Hortons restaurant in the Marlborough area of Calgary. They said she called police and officers arrived to find her and all three children safe and sound.
