Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, charged with first-degree rape

Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, 37, has been charged with raping a minor.

Maraj was arraigned Thursday evening on first-degree rape and first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, according to online court and jail records. The alleged victim is only 12 years old.

Shortly thereafter, he was freed from Nassau County jail on $100,000 bail.

Maraj was married in New York last summer, and Minaj reportedly helped pay for it, spending approximately $30,000. Minaj posted a photo at the event with her brother to her Instagram account:

It is not known if Minaj paid Maraj’s bail. The pop singer also hasn’t commented on the charges.
