Testalinden wildfire almost fully contained

NEAR OLIVER — The Testalinden Creek Wildfire near Oliver is almost out, but not quite. It is now reported to be 95 per cent contained.

As of Monday, the fire camp has been dismantled; however, 32 firefighters and one helicopter remain on location.

Smoke from the fire will continue to be visible for the next few days as crews work to completely contain the fire and put out hot spots.

The fire is estimated to be 5,202 hectares.

The public, including hunters, is being reminded that crews are still working in the area.

Flames broke out on August 14 forcing evacuations, burning 52-square kilometers and destroying two structures.

All evacuation orders, alerts and restrictions have been dropped but a cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
