CALGARY – Calgarians are getting a sneak peek at a new privately-funded art installation that will soon be situated in the downtown core.
The 13-foot tree sculpture from Calgary-based artist Tobias Luttmer is welded and molded from stainless steel. It will stand out front of a new condo development located at 13 Avenue and 2 Street S.W. by the end of the summer.
“I’m really working towards getting it done by the 31 of August,” said Luttmer in an online video discussing the project. “I’m going to make an owl and a raven to put in the branches of the tree, and then I should be done.”
Luttmer is a Calgary-born-and-raised, self-taught artist. At this time, Webster Galleries is not releasing the name of the client who commissioned the project.
