Some beaches in Halifax reopen in time for weekend

HALIFAX —

Good news for beachgoers in the Halifax area:
Shubie Beach in Dartmouth and Long Pond Beach in Herring Cove have now reopened to swimming.

The beaches were closed earlier this week because of high bacteria levels in the water.
Officials say that can be caused by a number of factors, including weather.
While it’s good news for residents who frequent those beaches, a reminder that Black Rock Beach in Point Pleasant Park remains closed.
