Boundaries: The riding contains all of the historic city of New Westminster, including the Queensborough neighbourhood. It also includes Burnaby’s Edmonds neighbourhood, and the surrounding areas south of Burnaby Lake.

Redistribution has given this riding all of New Westminster and removed southwest Burnaby, making it slightly more NDP-friendly in process.

History: Aside from when Forseth held the riding between 1993 and 2004, an NDP MP has held New Westminster since 1972. Provincially, New Westminster has elected NDP MLAs in all but one election since the 1960s.
