HALIFAX – Police in Bridgewater continue to investigate the spreading of intimate images at Bridgewater Junior/Senior High School, and confirm they have yet to lay any charges.
The investigation into questionable images found on electric devices at Bridgewater Junior/Senior High lead police to make a request for U.S. law enforcement to assist in furthering their investigation back in June.
Bridgewater Police say they have put in a formal request for assistance from U.S. law enforcement under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty. The request has been forwarded to Ottawa and they are waiting for a response.
The request for assistance was made because investigators are looking to, “pursue certain leads,” which lead them to an Application Service Provider in the United States.
Bridgewater police also said the RCMP Technological Crime Unit has analyzed a number of cell phones, but have not commented on the nature of the images or how they were found. They said the work is still on-going.
The principal of Bridgewater Junior/Senior High School called police after discovering students were sharing the images via cellphones and other devices in early May.
The South Shore Regional School Board has launched its own investigation and contacted the parents of a number of students involved.
