TORONTO — Actor Miles Teller was called a hero Monday after rescuing a pregnant woman who panicked while reportedly caught in a rip current in Miami Beach on the weekend.
According to reports, the 28-year-old Whiplash star was enjoying time at the beach Sunday with his girlfriend, 22-year-old model Keleigh Sperry, when the woman started screaming.
Teller and Sperry are said to have rushed into the Atlantic Ocean to assist the woman, who was in the surf with her daughter.
The actor grabbed the woman’s hand and walked her back to shore while she held on tight to her daughter’s hand.
But, Sperry later offered a different version of events on Instagram. “She came up to us freaking out telling us to not freak out but It was a shark,” she wrote. “And the scariest moment ever hahah poor lady.”
Teller is currently in South Florida filming the crime caper Arms and the Dudes with Jonah Hill.
