WINNIPEG — Police are reminding Winnipeggers not to leave vehicles running to warm them up with the doors unlocked.
Every year 35 to 40 per cent of vehicles stolen are because they were running or the keys were easily accessible, Const. Jason Michalyshen said.

“These are often times crimes of opportunity,” he said.

There has been an increase in these thefts recently, Michalyshen said.
If you do want to heat up your vehicle, lock your doors, police advise.
