Saskatoon Blades hold home opener

SASKATOON – Western Hockey League (WHL) action starts Saturday as the Saskatoon Blades take to the ice for their 2014-2015 season home opener.

The Blades will take on the Prince Albert Raiders starting around 7 p.m.

However, the festivities start with a tail gate party at 4 p.m., where there will be activities for kids, food and music.

Due to a contract dispute between the city and Saskatoon Transit, participants can not take public transportation to the game.

The doors to Credit Union Centre open at 5:30 p.m.

Hockey enthusiasts can also buy a ticket to try to win an ATV or an exclusive NHL autographed jersey. Proceeds from the 50-50 will go towards the Friends of the Bowl organization, which just completed a renovation at Saskatoon Minor Football Field.

Both teams had their first game of the regular season Friday night in Prince Albert, Sask. with the Raiders winning 5-3.

The Blades roster currently features nine players from Saskatchewan.
