The victim called 911 from a home in the 7000 block of 41 Avenue N.W. around 12:30 a.m.
He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but his condition has since been upgraded to stable.
Police believe the victim was shot outside the home, and witnesses reported hearing shouting outside at the time.
