QUEBEC CITY – It will be a busy week in politics. Defeated PQ leader Pauline Marois is expected to pass the torch to Premier-designate Philippe Couillard on Wednesday, nine days after the election.
In 2012, it took Jean Charest only 48 hours to get his ducks in a row and meet with his successor.

Couillard’s staff say they have tried several times since the election to schedule a meeting with Marois, but each time they were rebuffed.
Now, it seems the two leaders have finally agreed to meet this Wednesday to discuss the transfer of powers.
The meeting is purely symbolic; it is meant to show that the transition is being done in an orderly fashion.

Also coming up this week: the swearing-in ceremony for the 70 elected Liberal MNAs. That is happening on Thursday, April 17, at 2 p.m.
The first Liberal cabinet meeting is expected to be held on Wednesday, April 23, meaning Couillard has very little time left to evaluate his team and form his inner circle.
