REGINA – A group of about a dozen people in Regina joined 25 other communities across the country for a national day of action Tuesday organized by Leadnow.ca, Council of Canadians and the Canadian Federation of Students  to protest the Fair Elections Act passed by the federal Conservative, which they say isn’t very fair at all.

They say the changes to the federal elections act will make it more difficult for some people to vote.

“If you don’t have identification that has your address on it, or can verify your address as being in the constituency where the poll is, you will not be allowed to vote. And no one can vouch for you,” explained host organizer, Rick Kotowich.

He added he’s also concerned about provisions that inhibit Elections Canada’s ability to report election fraud.

They also delivered a petition to MP Tom Lukiwski’s constituency office to repeal the bill entirely. So far, more than 80,000 signatures have been collected for the petition across Canada.
