TORONTO — Fashion designer L’Wren Scott, the longtime girlfriend of Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, died Monday. She was 47.
Police in New York City said Scott’s body was found at around 10:00 a.m. in her eighth-floor apartment by an assistant. She reportedly hanged herself.
Scott and Jagger had been together since 2001.
A spokesperson for Jagger, who is currently in Australia, told the New York Post the 70-year-old singer is “completely shocked and devastated.”

Born Luann Bambrough, she was raised by adoptive parents and left Utah after high school to pursue modeling in Paris.
In the ’90s she became a successful celebrity stylist, working with stars like Madonna and Julia Roberts.
Scott launched her first collection, Little Black Dress, in 2006 and followed with collections for Lancome, Barney’s and Banana Republic.
Celebrities who have worn Scott’s designs include Reese Witherspoon, Uma Thurman, Jennifer Lopez and Sandra Bullock.
Scott worked on costumes for movies like Ocean’s Thirteen and Eyes Wide Shut.
After Scott was found dead, her official Facebook page was updated with two promotional posts.
“Whoever runs this FB page needs to be fired,” commented one visitor.
