WINNIPEG – Jennifer Jones can only explain it with four words: a dream come true.
The St. Vital skip defeated Ontario’s Sherry Middaugh 8-4 Saturday night in the women’s final of the Roar of the Rings Canadian Olympic curling trials at MTS Centre.
With the victory, Jones, along with third Kaitlyn Lawes, second Jill Officer, lead Dawn McEwen, alternate Kirsten Wall and coach Janet Arnott, earned the right to wear the maple leaf in Sochi come February.

“I can’t describe it,” said Jones. “You dream of it since you’re a little kid. We’ve had many dreams come true but this is so rare, this opportunity. Our dreams came true today in the most amazing way. It’s unbelievable.”
Jones cruised through the round robin during the past week, winning six of seven of her games to earn a bye into the final. Her only loss came to Alberta’s Val Sweeting during draw five.
Middaugh meanwhile surprised the curling world by beating reigning national Scotties Tournament of Hearts champ Rachel Homan 10-4 in Friday’s semifinal.
This is the third time Jones has tried to qualify for the Olympics. She won a world championship in 2008 and has four national Scotties titles to her name.
