N.S. man charged with attempted murder after woman stabbed in Lake Echo

A Nova Scotia man has been charged after a woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a stabbing in Lake Echo over the weekend.

In a release, Halifax District RCMP said police and EHS responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence on Bumpy Lane in Lake Echo around 2 p.m. Saturday.

“RCMP officers learned that a woman had attended the home, to check on a woman, who is known to her,” the release said.

“Once inside, she found the woman suffering from life-threatening injuries and called for help. The victim was transported to hospital by EHS.”

The release said investigators learned the victim, 47, had been stabbed by a man known to her the evening prior.

On Sunday, a 57-year-old man from Dartmouth turned himself into police at Halifax Regional Police headquarters in Halifax.

He has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, uttering a threat, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a weapon contrary to an order.

The suspect was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court Monday.
