A worker has died at the site of a municipal sewer project in Upper Stoney Creek.
Emergency responders were called to Upper Centennial Parkway and Rymal Road East, just before 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, for what the Hamilton Fire Department termed a “confined space rescue.”
Hamilton police say the worker was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The $52-million project, scheduled to be finished in February 2019, involves an almost seven-kilometre sanitary sewer from Green Mountain Road to the area of Guyatt Road.
It will provide servicing that is needed to support additional planned growth in Binbrook.
The investigation is now in the hands of the coroner and Ontario’s Ministry of Labour.
