Wind, rain and snow storm set to hit Saskatchewan this weekend – find out what areas are expected to get hit hardest below.

Saskatoon Forecast

Today

This morning was much warmer than the previous two days with temperatures starting out around -2 that felt like -5 with wind chill.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies stuck around through the morning as we rose up into mid-single digits by late morning.

A low pressure system sliding through central Saskatchewan will keep us under a mix of sun and cloud with some afternoon convective clouds bubbling up along with a slight chance of a thunderstorm as we rise to a daytime high just into double digits.

Tonight

Partly cloudy skies will stick around tonight as temperatures fall back below freezing by a degree or so.

Wednesday

-5 is around what it’ll feel like Wednesday morning with wind chill as you head out the door under a mix of sun and cloud that’s expected to stick around all day.

Winds will remain fairly light, however the mercury will spike back up into low double digits again for an afternoon high.

Another double digit day is slated for central Saskatchewan on Wednesday. SkyTracker Weather

Thursday

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

A low pressure system pushing in from the south will pick up east-southeasterly winds on Thursday to speeds of 40 km/h with gusts upwards of 60 km/h as we warm toward the low teens for a high.

There is a chance of showers early in the day, but the best risk of rain is later in the day as the system presses in.

Strong winds begin to pick up during the day on Thursday in central Saskatchewan. SkyTracker Weather

Easter Long Weekend Outlook

On Good Friday the centre of the low pressure system is expected to pass over the area with rain expected, particularly early in the day with strong winds and slightly cooler temperatures.

Earlier models suggested we may see snow on Friday in the Saskatoon area, but now that risk has progressed further north where heavy accumulations of potentially over 30 centimetres may fall.

Still some model disagreement among Friday\’s storm, but the heaviest precipitation will likely fall north of Saskatoon. SkyTracker Weather

Saturdays is the day the Saskatoon area will likely see the snow with cold air wrapping in behind the system with strong wind gusts up to 70 km/h possible as we cool back to and even below freezing.

Easter Sunday looks to be the best day of the weekend by far, albeit cool with temperatures below freezing for most of the day, but we’re expecting a return to the sunshine by afternoon if not sooner.

For those with Easter Monday off, that day will be even nicer with the mercury recovering well above freezing and even more sunshine expected.
