Surveillance video from a nearby fitness centre shows the moment of the explosion in New York City Saturday night.

The footage taken from the Orangetheory Fitness Center in Manhattan shows debris flying as people begin scrambling for cover after the blast occurs.

The explosion, which occurred around 8:30 pm ET, left 29 people injured.

New York City officials have yet to come up with a motive for the explosion although a second explosive device which had not exploded was found a few blocks away from the scene.

“Tonight, New York City experienced a very bad incident,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a news conference Saturday night. “We have no credible and specific threat at this moment.”
