Pallet fire in Kelowna – Aug 17, 2016

The Kelowna Fire Department was called to the Sun City Cherries packing plant on Lakeshore Road around 2:40 a.m. Wednesday morning.

A stack of bins and some pallets of cardboard boxes were in flames. No buildings were threatened but some overhead telephone and data wires were close to the fire.

Nine firefighters attended, along with two engines, one Tender, and a command vehicle.

Crews remain on scene, mopping up and checking for hot spots.

The Kelowna fire Department isn’t saying what caused the fire at this time, but are reminding smokers to discard of smoking material safely.
