MONTREAL — Focus Montreal introduces Montrealers to people who are shaping our community, bringing their stories into focus.
It airs on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and at midnight.
Take a look at who we’re meeting this week on Focus Montreal:
Celebrating Montreal
Montreal’s big 375th anniversary bash is coming up next year and hundreds of projects are currently underway to modernize the city’s infrastructure in time for the festivities and the tourists.
The celebration is also seen as an opportunity to put Montreal on the world stage as a city of innovation and growth.
Next year is expected to be huge for Montreal’s tourism industry, generating record economic returns.
Montreal’s 375th general manager Alain Gignac dropped by Focus Montreal to talk about what the anniversary has in store.
International Missing Children’s Day
Every year, May 25 acts as a reminder to renew efforts to reunite missing children with their loved ones.
Once again this year, the Montreal-based Missing Children’s Network is getting set to commemorate that important day.
Pina Arcamone, director for the network, shares the organization’s latest initiatives to help families keep hope alive.
Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s Cabaret
Every year at this time Muscular Dystrophy Canada holds an event to fundraise for important research into the disease.
This year the cabaret-style evening at the Ritz is sponsored by the Tenaquip Foundation — an organization that has given 10 million dollars to charitable associations over the past 10 years.
The muscular dystrophy soiree raises funds for research, equipment and support services.
Wednesday’s event includes a cocktail party and live auction.
Tenaquip’s Glenn Watt and Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s Ken Hastings discuss the event and how the funds raised benefit the organization.
