An 18-year-old man from Lower Sackville is facing attempted murder charges after gun shots were fired late Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a vehicle and its occupants on Federal Avenue around 4:55 p.m. on Sunday. Police said the incident was result of a dispute that escalated.
Police located the suspect a short time later and he was taken into custody. The vehicle and the second person involved in the dispute were also located by police.
Police said the act was not random as the 18-year-old man charged and the 49-year-old male victim from Halifax knew each other.
The were no injuries in the altercation.
The 18-year-old man will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday to be formally charged with attempted murder, careless use of a firearm and other weapons offences.
